Global Connections

Since 2001, we have been celebrating cultures around the world with our community through a special event called Global Connections. This year’s 16th annual Global Connections is on Thursday, November 2, 6:00-8:00pm. On this night, the halls of Smith will explode with cultural exhibits where you can discover music, food, and traditions from countries around the world. In addition, student performers will be showcasing their talents in the theatre. The show will run twice that evening with two different student performance groups.

In order to make the most of your Global Connections experience, please arrive at Smith at 6:00pm on Thursday, and check in at the welcome table. There, you will get a list of exhibits and a ticket for one of the shows. Also, be sure to bring cash with you to buy delicious food in the International Cafe.

To alleviate traffic, a free shuttle to Smith will be provided:
  • From 5:15-5:45 from the Hargraves Center and Trinity Court areas (exact departure times TBA)
  • From 6:00-8:00 from the Chapel Hill High parking lot (departing every 15 minutes, with the last shuttle leaving Smith at 8:00)
We will kick off Global Connections week with cultural spirit days. Oct. 30-Nov. 3, students are encouraged to wear cultural attire to represent global cultures.
  • Monday - The Americas
  • Tuesday - Africa
  • Wednesday - Europe
  • Thursday - Asia
  • Friday - Cyclone Pride
If you would like to volunteer during Global Connections, please email Robin McMahon at rmcmahon@chccs.k12.nc.us.  Thanks to all those who have already turned in volunteer forms!
